Grantham’s Medieval Onion Fair is here again on 10th October, courtesy of Richard III having granted permission back in 1483. Mind you, he might have been a little taken aback to see ladies dancing in gorgeous saris!

Below is an old 18th-century road-strip map showing the road from Grantham to Doncaster. Richard’s roads wouldn’t have been as advanced…and Grantham would have been much smaller, but even so, it’s interesting to look at.
