At last, a plaque for Edward of Middleham… to commemorate the 550th anniversary of his birth.

When I saw the heading of the article below, for a moment I thought another son of Richard’s had been found! But no, it’s a plaque to Edward of Middleham. It was unveiled in the Church of St Mary and St Akelda in Middleham, in the year that marks the 550th anniversary of his birth. That poor little boy now has a plaque, and not before time. If only things had gone differently, he would have become his father’s successor!

And how appropriate that Philippa Langley should be involved. She has done so much for Richard, as has Amanda Geary, who was also closely involved with this.

    How wonderful. Thank you Phillipa and Amanda for doing this with the Society. Richard would be proud. I am so glad that at last Edward of Middleham has a memorial plaque in Richard and Anne’s favourite church. Poor lad dying alone in pain without his parents to comfort him. I sincerely hope he is reunited with them in heaven and they are all at peace.

      Further, this is the youngest age I have seen for Edward–how did we come about that number?

        I saw the youngest age))) March, 1477 (he was first included in the list of those for whose health prayers were to be offered on April 10, 1477)
