Oh, dear, here we have a potted (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diIZApQtY7k 2 minutes long) version of the story of Catherine of Aragon. Highly fictional….and throughout we keep hearing Elizabeth of York referred to as the interfering anti-Catherine Queen Dowager. Eh?
As she died 1503, before Henry VII, and only just after the death of Catherine’s first husband, Arthur, Prince of Wales, Elizabeth was never a widow and wasn’t around to interfere with her son Henry’s proposed marriage to Catherine. Nor, in the end, was Henry VII, because the 1509 marriage took place on 11 June, which was a.s.a.p. after the old boy had turned up his toes on 21 April. The moment Henry Jr became king, he took the wife he wanted. Well, until he didn’t want her any more, but that’s the beginning of a whole new saga.
