So very sad to hear of the death of Peter Hammond, Richard III Society stalwart, author and historian.
Peter was Research Officer when I first joined the Society back in the 1980’s, I visited his flat in London where Carolyn stored the society library, he encouraged me to write and publish my first Medieval Housewives book and to contact Amberley Publishing with my ideas for what turned into Everyday Life in Medieval London.
He was ever present at every conference, study weekend, branch meeting and AGM. The backbone and guiding light of the society and research committee for decades.
Thank you Peter, we will miss you and love to Carolyn who is also poorly in hospital in York.
