On Saturday afternoon we were treated to a fantastically interesting talk by Professor Caroline Wilkinson, she who had created the reconstruction of Richard’s head.  It was the Isolde Wigram Memorial Lecture and she touched on the reconstruction but concentrated on the A Voice for Richard project, which she participated in.  She described all the detailed processes that had to be achieved, telling us that the technology involved is improving all the time.

There were plenty of questions afterwards and she was happy to chat to people…

Following the lecture there was a comfort break, after which the AGM began. It was well attended, although by this time Richard had had been returned to the Visitor Centre. My friend Maria noticed that there was a possible substitute for it!

In the evening, there was a medieval-style Banquet, which I attended. The menu didn’t include potato, which I was pleased to see, however, the main course had corn on the cob, which wasn’t a medieval food here then!  The three courses I had were  the Baron’s broth (root vegetables, herbs, white bean and barley) with a sour trencher (bread), roasted quarter of fowl (roast leg and thigh of chicken rolled in mace, black pepper and tarragon, served with an onion and mead sauce) and the Courte Pudding (frosted carrot pudding served with forest berries). There was also wine, both red and white, but no coffee!

For entertainment, there was a duo performing medieval music with various instruments (lute, drums, sackbut and hurdy gurdy) and a caricaturist who did one of me in my medieval garb (I had my glasses on most of the time!)
