Browne’s Hospital, Stamford, Lincolnshire – from From https://www.pridemagazines.co.uk/stamford/heart-of-the-county/the-history-of-browns-hospital/02-2025

There is a wonderful 550-year-old hospital in Stamford, Lincolnshire, and it is there due to the 1475 generosity of wealthy wool merchant William Browne and his wife. It was granted a charter by Richard III, not long before the king’s tragic death at the Battle of Bosworth.

“….British Museum curator Dr Gareth Williams is helping to celebrate the two anniversaries by appearing at Browne’s Hospital dressed as Richard III for a talk called ‘The Night Before Bosworth’….” The talk is on Saturday, May 10, at 7.30pm at Browne’s Hospital in Broad Street, to celebrate the 550th anniversary of the charter Richard III granted to the hospital in 1485.
