Well, now I’ve read it all. Please look at the above map, into which you can zoom at here.
Do you see the images of monarchs on the left (Lancaster) and on the right (York)? You’ll probably need to zoom at the Wikimedia link above to read the words atop the Lancastrian column. They say Blessed are the Peacemakers. Above the Yorkists on the right there’s….sweet Fanny Adams.
So, Speed seems to be indicating that the House of Lancaster was filled with angelic peacemakers, while the House of York was, presumably, awash with demonic warmongers.
Well ya boo to Speed. I’ve gone right off him. Peacemakers indeed. They murdered Richard II to lay their grasping paws on the throne in the first place! Like Henry Tudor (in the name of the House of Lancaster) at Bosworth, they managed to usurp the throne through evil means. Richard II was murdered by his cousin Henry IV, and Richard III was murdered by traitorous turncoats in order to put the Tudor nonentity on the throne. Don’t tell me the Lancastrians were peacemakers!
Yes, in case you hadn’t picked up the subtle vibes, I’m narked!
