My introduction to the Battle of Shrewsbury was at school, when Shakespeare’s Henry IV Part I had to be studied for ‘O’ levels. I didn’t like Henry IV then, and I don’t like him now. He was a usurper who murdered his cousin Richard II in order to plant his Lancastrian backside on the stolen throne. That’s him in a nutshell.
Now, if you go to this link you’ll find a video by History Hit of a documentary in which Dan Jones and Professor Michael Livingston examine the battle. The article about this is interesting, although I am a little concerned that Edmund Mortimer is referred to as Edward. Such errors always make me jittery about the accuracy of everything else.
