For pity’s sake be accurate! Is it really too much to ask for details to be correct? Apparently so.
In this article The Philosopher-King (greaterkashmir.com) * I found the following:
“….King Richard III’s actions helped spark the Wars of the Roses, a protracted conflict that devastated England…..”
And to think I fought my way through a jungle of ads to read that howling error! Far from starting the Wars of the Roses, poor old Richard III is usually credited with ending them by letting himself be murdered on the field at Bosworth! He didn’t start or end them because the conflict continued into the reign of his incredibly lucky slayer and usurper Henry VII.
Funnily enough the article commences with this paragraph:
“….Hans Christian Andersen’s The Emperor’s New Clothes is a famous fable that ….satirizes the idea that people are often willing to accept what they are told by those in power….”
The writer of the article may not be in power in general, but she is in charge of the articles she composes. People often do believe the stuff they read online. So she should get her facts right. It’s not as if a quick trip to the likes of Google won’t turn up the correct information.
