Rent a castle? Yes please. A nice little New Year Lady-of-the-Manor sojourn would do nicely, thank you very much. My selection from the list at this site has to be Fernhill Castle near Skipton . Don’t ask me why. I simply like it, and it is genuinely old (from 14^th century).

There are other sites offering similar experiences. For instance,  The Landmark Trust offers many, and my choice from their list is Kingswear Castle near Dartmouth. What a wonderful situation!

I could go on with such sites, from the ones where you can rent the entire castle, to others where you can have rooms or apartments. The world is your oyster, as the saying goes. And the above two are, after all, simply my choices. I’m not even claiming to be able to afford them!

So let’s hope that when you are making your booking, wherever you’re going, you’re able to get there, stay there, enjoy it there and then return from there, without some outside force ruining it all!
