This article commences with the following: “….A cluster of individuals claimed by some to be the true authors of Shakespeare‘s works lived in or near the same ostentatious mansion in the City of London at much the same time….”

The mansion is in Bishopsgate and yes, it is known for its connections with the Bard. But it also has connections with other candidates to being the real composer of the Bard’s works. And yes, the Bishopsgate mansion is either central to it all, or certainly occupies a prominent position.

I won’t explain more, because reading the above article will tell you all you need to know. It’s very interesting. And intriguing.

Having been faced with the awful Henry IV Part I for my 1960 GCE English Literature ‘O’ Level, I’ve yet to forgive Will Shakespeare, the other candidates or Henry IV! Or Keats, or Memoirs of a Fox-hunting Man! 😠

all I had to do was scan the sentence about renaming Bishopsgate for Shakespeare (no offense Will) and my blood ran cold…
