(Before I start, I assure you I won’t mention clay pipes! 😁)
A young Norwegian lady purchased a collection of cheap costume jewellery online, and when it arrived she discovered one item was the ancient ring shown above. It had once belonged to a Viking chief. Can you imagine such a stroke of luck? How truly wonderful to find you’ve actually acquired something of such historic value? It’s akin to the priceless treasures found in car boot sales.
So, ladies and gentlemen, if you were to acquire a box of old costume jewellery (or other things) on spec, what would you dearly like to actually find in the midst? My friends have suggested Richard III’s lost diary, the York letters and so on. My daughter didn’t hesitate to say she’d like to find a diamond…but then, she adores diamonds. I raised a lady with expensive taste. (Do you hear echoes of Marilyn Monroe singing Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend? 😄)
Me? I’m fascinated and intrigued by John Holand, half-brother of Richard II, so I’d be delighted to find something that belonged to/was connected to him.
No doubt you’re all bursting to tell me what you’d like to find, so I wait with bated breath!
