There was a crooked man who lived in a crooked house….

We love to look at (and are proud of) our old medieval houses, and Lavenham in Suffolk is full of them! No wonder it draws in so many people, all intent upon seeing what England used to be like before the advent of modern building expansion.

from Google Maps

One of the most famous of the houses in Lavenham is The Crooked House, and if you go to this article you can read all about it and see Country Life‘s usual selection of beautiful photographs.

Mind you, I’m not sure how long I could keep my balance in some rooms, or if the admittedly beautiful dining room would soon see the demise of my appetite.

It is (or has been) up for sale recently, and acquiring it for yourself needs £500,000! See this site.

I’ve never been so far south, much as I’d have liked to. Lavenham looks absolutely wonderful and the Crooked House is amazing. I can’t imagine living there (I wobble enough on ordinary floors!) but I’d love to see it.
There are many places I’d love to visit, but have to suffice with pictures and TV programmes now, as disability has stopped my gallop I’m afraid. Thank you for posting this, it’s been lovely seeing the pictures and reading all about it.
