“….a forensic reconstruction of how Richard III lost his life at Bosworth….”

I don’t know what the above extract entails, and to find out I need a ticket! The reconstruction  is one of the many attractions at the forthcoming . Chalke Valley History Festival  It all sounds excellent and I hope the crowds pour in.

  1. I attended the Chalke Valley History Festival in 2013 (visiting the UK from Canada), and it was a wonderful experience. I attended the presentation by Richard Buckley and Mathew Morris on the discovery of the remains of Richard III, and one with Chris Skidmore speaking about his recent book on Richard III. There was also a forensic reconstruction of how Richard lost his life at Bosworth (…spoiler alert…) which was a demonstration by re-enactors of the last moments of the battle when Richard was unhorsed, and the blows that were struck (as evident on his remains) and a lecture on the types of weapons that caused those injuries.
The whole festival was fabulous – they had an airshow the year I was there, and one of the highlights for me was meeting historian/presenter Neil Oliver. Do go, you’ll love it!
