Richard gets porcelain and a modern firearm…?

All this and a modern firearm too...

Forgive me if I’m a little bemused. This picture is Richard. OK? But he’s dressed to look like a clown, with what looks like breast armour representing his innards. Hmmm. As for the weapon, I’m sure Richard would have been pleased to arm his men with such things. More hmmmmm…. Well, the French do have a different way of looking at things, but to me this is totally daft. Nul points.

  2. It’s just an example of contemporary theatre rethinking an old play. Nothing to get hot an bothered about.

    1. Who’s getting hot and bothered? We’re merely commenting on something we think is daft. Certainly not serious.

  3. Agree with Jasmine. ‘Twas the very absurdity of Shakespeare’s conception of R3 – the same playwright who would give us the sensitively-created personae of Henry V, Cleopatra, and Hamlet – that got me to wondering if perhaps Old Will wanted us to look behind the farce he crafted (a farce that was crafted from existing Tudor slanders) at the real man.
