Richard and Undercroft

Being half Welsh (and proud of it!) but also a Ricardian through and through, I don’t know whether to watch this with huge interest…or bare my teeth.

The programme should have English subtitles.

  1. I tend to think of how Richard did his best to be a good lord to all his subjects, and the Herberts and Vaughans of Tretower certainly appreciated his lordship and that of his brother. The Brecon risings show that not all Welsh were fans of Jasper Tudor’s son-in-law.

  2. No, and the truth of the matter was that in no wise did all Welshmen rise to support Henry (nor Englishmen either)…most of his forces were foreign. Once he took the throne there were even pockets of resistance against him in Wales.
