It will be great if the investigations do reveal the footprint of the Abbey. It would be really astonishing if a second king could be found in a car park. How many other English monarchs are missing?

Harold II somewhere. There is a piece of Alfred’s pelvis at Winchester, although it may be Edward the Elder, his son. Stephen is being searched for at Faversham in Kent, where his wife and son were also buried. He would also share Henry I’s mtDNA. We have other recent posts on this subject with these tags and one from October, UIAVMM.
Thanks, Super, I’ll take a look. I saw the documentary about the pelvis, but hadn’t heard about the search for Stephen.

Several monarchs were lost in France during that nation’s various upheavals: William I, Matilda/Maud (daughter and only surviving child of Henry I) Henry II, Richard I, Eleanor of Aquitaine, James II. Several English Queens are also missing, due to the Reformation.
