Recently excavations at Gloucester cathedral have unearthed some exciting new finds. Perhaps the most intriguing was a ‘Janus’ Bead of the 15th c., so-called because it is ‘two faced’ like the God Janus, with one face gazing forward and the other backward. What makes this one even more interesting, is that it is also a…

The above is not a picture of the event I saw, but resembles it. At around 2.30 in the afternoon of Sunday, 11th December 2016, driving home after being out with my family for lunch at the Hatherley Manor Hotel near Gloucester, my sister-in-law and I saw a two-sun parhelion. It is the first time I…

I tried to scan it or cut/paste, but the resolution isn’t that great and making it large enough to read here on the blog is rather difficult. So it’s the website…

This little item was in today’s (5th March 2015) Gloucester Citizen newspaper. Richard gets everywhere these days, even in Gloucester Mall! Sorry the quality of the scan isn’t better. Apparently there was a silver ‘living’ statue of Henry VIII outside in Eastgate Street. But we won’t talk about that. <g>

There is only one last goodie in my hoard of photographs from the Gloucester Richard III Exhibition in the spring this year. Well, one that is clear enough to be worthy of posting. It’s of the Towton Ring, and the notice with it said as follows: “This gold signet ring was found on the site…
