Here is a report by Matthew Lewis on the premiere of his and Thomas Dennis’s new project, A Taste of Loyalty:
Tuesday 3 March. Crouching in the empty Great Hall of Warwick Castle, trying to stretch a huge cloth screen with Thomas Dennis’s face on it across a frame that was fighting back. It was a surreal moment. The calm before the storm. A moment of intense doubt. What if no one showed up? People were getting snarled up in a problem on the motorway coming from the north. What if Thomas and I, and my children, turned out to be the only ones there? What had we done??
As darkness fell, and the castle was lit in deep red, the word arrived that guests were at Reception and beginning to make their way down, guided by the fantastic re-enactors who lined their path to the red carpet.
