Dan Snow is always a contentious subject for Ricardians, but in this video (https://tinyurl.com/3e4zpxr3) he deals with “….cinematic portrayals of the kings and queens of England and Britain….” so it’s the films he’s commenting on. But I have to say that I couldn’t really find fault with his narrative.
However, the video is (a) infuriating because of the exceedingly intrusive ads, which really blare out of the screen, and (b) hilarious for the subtitles. I mean, the Walls of the Roses? 😄 Nor does he list his monarchs chronologically, so the video starts with the Hanoverians. You get to Edward I a little way in, Henry V crops up, and Richard III (à la Shakespeare) is right at the end. I’ve only mentioned the “medieval” monarchs, apart from the reference to the Hanoverians.
You’ve been warned.
PS: I own up to thinking that the late, great Patrick McGoohan’s Edward I was the only brilliance in Braveheart, which was otherwise complete and utter crud.
