Sundial monument at Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre

This is an announcement from The Real Mortimer History Society, on their Facebook page. This is what they say:

‘We are pleased to announce that the Wars of the Roses Memorial Database is now live at https://www.battlefieldstrust.com/wotrmemorial/ to coincide with the anniversary of the battle of Towton (1461).

The project aims to record as many memorials as possible of individuals and places that played some part in the intermittent periods of war and rebellion, which occurred in England in the second half of the fifteenth century. The ambition is to create a heritage resource for use by everyone interested in this period.

Project partners include the Battlefields Trust, Mortimer History Society, Northamptonshire Battlefields Society, Richard III Society, Tewkesbury Battlefield Society, and the Yorkist History Trust.

The database includes a memorial search function and interactive map, both with filtering options to make searching for specific memorials easier. Many of the memorials listed also have images included, and these are free to use under a Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial 4.0 International Licence (CC BY-NC 4.0).

Whilst the database is now live and publicly available, this is just the start of a process of recording memorials associated with the Wars of the Roses. The project is seeking further submissions from the public to expand the database.  If you know of a memorial not already listed, you can submit its details at https://www.battlefieldstrust.com/wotrmemorial/submit.asp.’
