Graham Mitchell (a local historian, secretary of the Richard III Society’s Yorkshire Branch and former Keighley town mayor) will speak about Richard, the Northern King, at St Michael and All Angels Church, Haworth, on Wednesday, April 9, at 7pm. Admission is £5, payable on the door. He has waived his fee so that the event will raise funds for the church. Read more here https://shorturl.at/nIw6L.
Mr Mitchell says: “Richard III has had 500 years of negative press, and I hope my talk – besides raising funds for the church – will convince people that Richard was indeed a good king whom the north of England should be proud to claim as one of their own.”
Hey, Richard’s loyal supporters in the south and elsewhere shouldn’t be forgotten, Mr Mitchell! We admire him and strive to clear his name! And we’re proud that he was our king too. ☺️ Seriously though, we know how much the North meant to him. Here’s hoping that the talk sells out and raises a goodly sum for St Michael and All Angels in Haworth.
