
Well, I own up to never having heard of the Cathedral Ceilings Campaign (see Cathedral Ceilings Campaign – Milestone Reached – The Association of English Cathedrals) but it was a pleasure to learn of some of the things that our cathedrals reveal if we only bend our necks to look UP.
It seems that the author of the article has a favourite, Norwich Cathedral. “….[where] they installed a helter skelter in the nave [see above illustration] to attract new – and younger – visitors. Children were also enjoying lying on yoga mats at the other end of the nave and looking up at 400 extraordinary painted 15th century bosses that tell the story of Creation to the Last Judgement across the whole nave roof of Norwich Cathedral….”
Anyway, the author of the cathedral ceilings article, Canon Janet Gough OBE, has also written ”….two perfect guides for summer visits to cathedrals….” These are:-

My only gripe about the Cathedral Ceilings Campaign article is that the best cathedral of them all, Gloucester, doesn’t get a mention. Shame. Gloucester is truly magnificent!
