
Do we need another picture of Henry VIII? Better ask his wives…well, the ones who kept their heads and therefore could still speak when they breathed their last. Looking at it, I can safely say it’s as horrible as all the others we know about and I wouldn’t have cared if it had remained in obscurity.

Richard III is apparently one of the surviving likenesses (see above) but the only version of it that I could find seemed to be the NPG portrait, minus his head. I don’t quite know what to read into that. Mind you, the rediscovered portrait of Henry VIII, which is at the beginning of this article, is only partial.
