The cast of any series of Dr Who is always of intense interest, but this new series promises to excite even more than usual, not because of the actor playing Dr Who himself (Ncuti Gatwa who is the fourteenth incarnation) but because the magical name Aneurin Barnard appears as “a mysterious Welshman named Roger ap Gwilliam”.

I know no more about the role, or how many episodes will feature Aneurin, but I do know that ever since he appeared as Richard III in The White Queen, he’s been a firm favourite in Ricardian circles. So there will be a very eager audience waiting with bated breath.

Jemma Redgrave is also to return, by popular demand it seems.

As I said at the beginning, the cast of Dr Who is alwaysof intense interest, and the doctors have changed a lot over the decades. I hope Ncuti Gatwa does really well and wish him every luck.

Looking to the future, however….the one obvious thing about the good doctor is that he’s an ALIEN! Will they ever get around to casting the real thing in the role? Come on, when the fifteenth doctor is necessary, how about the real thing?😄
