Some people appear to believe that a given man and woman cannot have a relationship (business or otherwise) without sexual involvement. In addition, this particular relationship is part of a trope in certain circles where poor, persecuted Isabella gets ‘her own back’ on Edward II. That there is no real historical evidence for this does not worry them. They are more interested in their agenda than in historical truth. I could quote similar examples.
