Alnwick Castle in 1475 and today

In the course of seeking the date when Henry Percy, Baron Percy, became the 1st Earl of Northumberland (it was 15 July 1377, the eve of the coronation of the boy king Richard II), I came upon the website of Alnwick Castle. The section about the history of the castle is very well illustrated and shows it in various stages of development. There are other sections too, of course.

As for Percy, he eventually turned against Richard II and supported the Lancastrian invader, Henry IV. Whether or not he was involved in the actual murder of Richard I don’t know.
