According to this article skinny Jude Law is to play Fat Henry as he was at the time of his marriage to Catherine Parr. The makeup department is sure going to be working overtime+!!! I’m going to spend my time examining his closeups for where the prosthetics end and Jude himself begins.
But hey, rewriting history is the speciality of film makers. The only film to portray Richard III as he really looked and behaved is The Lost King. Nearly all the rest are his gross Shakespearean persona….or make him look as old as his own grandfather!
More, this new production is going to give Catherine the upper hand. Oh, that rewriting…. She did what she could to keep her head on her neck, but did that mean she had the upper hand? Maybe she knew when to play the stern nurse and fuss around him, being the Mummy he’d lost when a boy, but that’s not the same as being violent! It’s being canny and knowing how to survive.
