According to this article “….A painting depicting the emblem of the last Plantagenet king of England has been put on display in Barnard Castle as part of efforts to tidy up a historic alleyway….The artwork features the boar of Richard III and has been mounted in Star Yard to highlight the connection between Barnard Castle and the king, who was granted the castle in 1475 as part of his Neville inheritance….”
Well, I looked at the above photograph and wondered why there was no sign of the new commemorative painting. Ooops. What a plonker. It’s on the wall behind them, top right. I feel suitable ashamed for not spotting it instantly!
Anyway, it’s beautiful artwork and does indeed tidy up the alley. Well, as if any alley in a medieval castle needs “tidying”!
