Well, another hoard. OK, it was a while ago, but it’s still a hoard. I’m so jealous. I want to find something important from the past, especially the medieval past. However, I have to be satisfied with my bits of clap pipe and Victorian pottery,

This article tells of gold coins of Edward III and Richard II being discovered in 1775 when 12th-century Fenwick Tower was being taken down. The present farmhouse comes with the remains of the tower, ohne coins, of course. Well, one can’t have everything, and this beautiful farmhouse certainly has most of what’s desirable, including magnificent views.

I think Richard II, being a monarch who is known to have appreciated fine food, would approve of the kitchen. Heaven knows what Edward III would think…he’d probably smile so reasonably at the new owner and tell him to get those coins back or else Northumberland would have its own 100 Years War!
