We all know how the Plantagenet genes of Richard’s three nieces were hijacked by Henry VII and his relatives (John Viscount Welles was his uncle and Sir Richard Pole was the Weasel’s first cousin) in the immediate aftermath of Bosworth. It took over four centuries for a “Plantagenet” man to marry a “Tudor” woman.

This wedding took place on 28 February 1922. The bride was Mary Princess Royal; only daughter of George V and the groom was Henry Lascelles, 6th Earl of Harewood. He was descended from the 1st Earl and Anne Challenor, descendant of Sir William Hilton and Sybil Lumley. Sybil Lumley’s father was Sir Thomas and his mother is now widely held to be the daughter of Edward IV.

  4. If Richard III was a paternal Plantagenet. The Plantagenets are a R-M269 haplo group. Richard III’s paternal haplo group is G-P287. Which renders Richard far removed from the Plantagenet legend they were descendants of Joseph of Arimathea. They are descendants of Joseph but “of Arimathea” needs some work.
King Tutankhamun’s great grandfather on his grandmother’s side, was Yuya, and the alleged Joseph of Genesis. Dr. Zahi Hawass published a study in 2010 the DNA findings of Tut’s family. Yuya seems to be a father of Europe, which R-M269 is quite popular there and in America when comparing SNPs found in Tutankhamun’s family to the NIST.gov database.
The Plantagenets are descendants of semitic Egyptians, however, this moves back the time Joseph of Arimathea is believed to exist.
Seems there only one Joseph and two different stories.
To this day, is the father that determines tribal affiliation, and through yDNA, never the mom, unless your are like my 21st ggf and take your wife’s surname to retain her family’s lands.
